Ready for a walk in the woods or a jaunt around town? Hamlin has you covered. This style can go anywhere with you. Choose a size that gives you either a snug fit or some slouch. Wear it with the ribbing cuffed to the outside or the inside, or wear it uncuffed for an entirely different look. Hamlin is all about options! Hamlin was inspired by our family life here in Michigan - everyone needs an easy going light weight beanie or slouch to wear while hiking the trails or walking around downtown. It's a unisex style that works for each of my kids, me and my husband. And the color combo options are unlimited, so everyone gets to choose just what they would want! It's named for Hamlin Lake up north where we like to vacation with extended family. My nieces and nephews willingly modeled for these pics, and the hats passed the cool test with them as well! It’s so versatile and fun: this might become your favorite pattern for making a special hat for anyone in your life.
The slipped stitch mosaic knitting pattern is fun to work and uses only one color at a time per round. It makes a double thick fabric with colorwork that’s identical on both sides - bonus reversibility! The slipped stitch colorwork would be suitable for a beginner to mosaic knitting. There's a tubular cast on that makes the ribbing edge so nice looking and stretchy. The pattern uses basic knit, purl, increase and decrease stitches.
Dragonfly Fibers provided their sport weight Damsel for this design, a hand dyed superwash 100% merino base that very smooth and soft. Other sport weight merino wool and blends are also suitable, but they may result in different fabric characteristics and drape.
